Let’s check if you have enough iCloud storage for a backup before updating your iPhone.
🔹 How to Check iCloud Storage
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap your Apple ID name at the top.
- Tap iCloud.
- At the top, you’ll see a bar graph showing how much storage is used and how much is available.
- Tap Manage Account Storage (or Manage Storage) to see what’s taking up space.
🔹 If You Don’t Have Enough Space
- Option 1: Free up space
- Delete old backups from devices you no longer use (Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage > Backups).
- Remove large files, photos, or videos you don’t need.
- Turn off iCloud backup for apps you don’t care about (inside the Manage Storage menu).
- Option 2: Upgrade iCloud storage
- Tap Change Storage Plan under iCloud settings.
- Plans start at 50GB (about $0.99/month), which is usually enough for iPhone backups.
✅ Once you confirm you have enough iCloud space, you can safely do an iCloud backup before updating.
